Morgan Stanley’s recent 2025 Technology, Media & Telecom Conference underscored five emerging AI themes set to shape the next phase of adoption. First, reasoning is becoming the new benchmark for AI capability, moving beyond pattern recognition to more sophisticated understanding. Second, so-called hyperscalers see cloud migrations and AI workloads as revenue opportunities. Third, Large language models (LLMs) see potential in AI reasoning for enterprises. Fourth, data companies zero in on evaluating AI. Finally, software companies set their sights on agentic AI.
These themes reflect AI’s shift from hype to impact, with 2025 expected to mark a critical year in enterprise adoption and deployment. “We’re on the precipice of an entirely new technology foundation, where the best of the best is available to any business. The way companies will win is by bringing that to their customers holistically,” said Kate Claassen, Head of Global Internet Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley.
