Global small caps could stage a recovery in 2025. They have faced significant headwinds in recent years, primarily due to higher interest rates and concerns about the economic cycle. However, these headwinds are turning in small caps’ favour.
“Smaller caps tend to thrive in an environment of improving economic momentum and falling interest rates,” says Nick Sheridan, Portfolio Manager at Janus Henderson Investors. “If global growth accelerates and rates fall, it is hard to imagine a scenario where that does not lead to a meaningful outperformance of small caps.”
